Another well reasoned and enjoyable read! But I do wonder if, whether me, you, or any one else wants it to be or not, you post is effectively pondering what might call the "paradox of wielding evil for good." I don't know, but I'm pretty sure that if it can, then it must be the case that it is only for a very short period of time indeed, and that almost certainly not be the case in this situation. This is because the system's structures and power itself depend upon committing filthy acts in perpetuity, and indeed in recent years as fissures have begun to form in its power structures edifice, it seems it must commit them more frequently, the domestic structures require the three magic tricks of large perpetual trade deficits, large perpetual budget deficits, and high liquidity, all without serious inflation, in order to have a large enough, geographically dispersed enough, and variegated enough individuals and small and medium special interest groups "being fed" in order to maintain the equilibrium and configuration of the the political economy it exists within and exerts control over, so it must continuously commit filthy acts around the world to maintain capital "G" Globalism or it will lose those three magic tricks and then it will collapse, also, even though enough people and groups are being fed to maintain in domestically, it is still highly extractive against most all people domestically, therefore it must continuously commit filthy acts domestically as well, take for example the Academy, which the author mentioned, science there must be hierarchical, abusive to most scientists, and science-suppressing, because any system change which re-expanded and re-diffused, would, along with the other structural changes that would be requisite for that to occur, whatever form they take, would by definition diffuse economic and political power which would greatly diminish the very powers that the system wields in order to be a centralized dictatorship: So either the new controllers constantly commit filthy acts of evil in which case their own souls and psyches will become filthy and thus will be incapable of producing truth and beauty and the common good, or, they don't perform those functions and then functions the system requires to be performed in order to survive are not performed and then system collapses and then those controllers have no dictatorships to wield. In short, I suspect that great evil cannot be used to to do great good.
